Delhi Meerut Expressway accident : उत्तर प्रदेश में दिल्ली-मेरठ एक्सप्रेसवे (DME) पर रविवार दोपहर बड़ा सड़क हादसा हो गया। भोजपुर के पास तेज रफ्तार बाइक आगे चल रहे ट्रक से टकरा गई, जिसमें दो युवकों की मौत हो गई। हादसे के बाद इलाके में अफरा-तफरी मच गई।
प्रतिबंध के बावजूद एक्सप्रेसवे पर दौड़ा रहे थे बाइक
पुलिस के अनुसार, हापुड़ निवासी सागर (18) बाइक चला रहा था, जबकि दीपू (18) पीछे बैठा था। दोनों दिल्ली से गाजियाबाद की ओर आ रहे थे। एक्सप्रेसवे पर बाइक की एंट्री प्रतिबंधित होने के बावजूद दोनों करीब 30 किलोमीटर तक बिना रोकटोक सफर करते रहे।
हेलमेट होने के बावजूद नहीं बची जान
हादसे में दोनों युवक गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। पेट्रोलिंग टीम उन्हें मोदीनगर सीएचसी लेकर पहुंची, जहां डॉक्टरों ने दोनों को मृत घोषित कर दिया। पुलिस के मुताबिक सागर ने हेलमेट पहना हुआ था, जबकि दीपू बिना हेलमेट के बाइक पर बैठा था।
ट्रक चालक फरार, CCTV फुटेज खंगाल रही पुलिस
हादसे के बाद ट्रक चालक वाहन समेत मौके से फरार हो गया। पुलिस अब दिल्ली-मेरठ एक्सप्रेसवे पर लगे CCTV कैमरों की मदद से आरोपी ट्रक चालक की तलाश कर रही है।
DME पर बाइक बैन के बावजूद टूट रहे नियम
दिल्ली-मेरठ एक्सप्रेसवे पर बाइक चलाना प्रतिबंधित है और नियम तोड़ने पर ₹20 हजार तक का चालान किया जाता है। इसके बावजूद बड़ी संख्या में बाइक सवार एक्सप्रेसवे पर नजर आते हैं। इस हादसे के बाद पुलिस और NHAI की निगरानी व्यवस्था पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं।

Riding on Expressway Despite Ban
According to police, 18-year-old Sagar from Hapur was riding the bike, while Deepu (18) was sitting behind him. The two were traveling from Delhi toward Ghaziabad. Despite the ban on motorcycles on the expressway, they managed to travel nearly 30 kilometers without being stopped.
Helmet Could Not Save Their Lives
Both youths were seriously injured in the crash. A patrolling team rushed them to Modinagar CHC, where doctors declared them dead. Police said Sagar was wearing a helmet, while Deepu was riding without one.
Truck Driver Absconding, Police Checking CCTV Footage
After the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Police are now examining CCTV footage installed on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to identify and trace the accused driver.
Rules Being Violated Despite Bike Ban on DME
Motorcycles are prohibited on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and violators can face fines of up to ₹20,000. However, a large number of bikers are still seen using the expressway. Following this accident, serious questions are being raised over the monitoring and safety arrangements by the police and NHAI.
