Thrissur, Kerala: केरल के त्रिशूर जिले में शुक्रवार देर रात एक भीषण सड़क हादसे में तमिलनाडु के दिनदिगुल के आठ इंजीनियरिंग छात्रों की मौत हो गई। पुलिस के अनुसार, छात्रों की कार राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग NH-66 पर सड़क किनारे खड़े एक लorry के पिछले हिस्से से टकरा गई।
हादसा शुक्रवार रात करीब 11:40 बजे कैपामंगलम क्षेत्र के पनाम्बिक्कुन्नू में हुआ।
गुरुवायूर से कोडुंगल्लूर जा रही थी कार
पुलिस के मुताबिक, छात्रों की कार गुरुवायूर से कोडुंगल्लूर की ओर जा रही थी। इसी दौरान NH-66 पर कार एक महाराष्ट्र नंबर के लorry के पीछे जा टकराई।
टक्कर इतनी जबरदस्त थी कि कार बुरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई। हादसे में छह छात्रों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि दो अन्य को अस्पताल ले जाने पर मृत घोषित कर दिया गया।
पुलिस के अनुसार अवैध रूप से खड़ा था लorry
पुलिस की शुरुआती जांच और दर्ज FIR के अनुसार, महाराष्ट्र पंजीकरण वाला लorry हाईवे के दाहिनी ओर कथित तौर पर अवैध रूप से खड़ा था।
जिस स्थान पर हादसा हुआ, वहां सड़क निर्माण कार्य चल रहा था और यातायात को बैरिकेड लगाकर दूसरी दिशा में मोड़ा गया था।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, कार चालक तेज रफ्तार में था और संभवतः डायवर्जन के लिए लगाए गए बैरिकेड को समय पर नहीं देख पाया। इसके बाद कार सीधे खड़े लorry के पिछले हिस्से से टकरा गई।
दिनदिगुल के रहने वाले थे सभी छात्र
मृतक सभी छात्र तमिलनाडु के दिनदिगुल के रहने वाले बताए जा रहे हैं और इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई कर रहे थे। हादसे की खबर मिलते ही उनके परिवारों में शोक की लहर दौड़ गई।
पुलिस ने मामला दर्ज कर दुर्घटना की विस्तृत जांच शुरू कर दी है। जांच में यह भी देखा जा रहा है कि हाईवे पर खड़े वाहन, डायवर्जन व्यवस्था और सड़क निर्माण के दौरान सुरक्षा इंतजामों में कोई लापरवाही तो नहीं हुई।
NH-66 पर सड़क सुरक्षा को लेकर उठे सवाल
इस दर्दनाक हादसे ने राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों पर सड़क सुरक्षा और निर्माण कार्य के दौरान ट्रैफिक डायवर्जन की व्यवस्था को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं।
हाईवे पर निर्माण कार्य के दौरान स्पष्ट संकेतक, पर्याप्त रोशनी और सुरक्षित तरीके से बैरिकेडिंग बेहद महत्वपूर्ण होती है। वहीं, तेज रफ्तार भी सड़क दुर्घटनाओं का एक बड़ा कारण बनी रहती है।
8 Engineering Students Killed in Kerala Crash After Car Rams Parked Lorry on NH-66
Thrissur, Kerala: Eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul were killed in a devastating road accident in Kerala’s Thrissur district after their car rammed into the rear of a parked lorry on NH-66, police said.
The tragic accident occurred at around 11:40 pm on Friday at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam.
Car Was Travelling From Guruvayur Towards Kodungallur
According to police, the students were travelling in a car from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur when the vehicle collided with the rear of a Maharashtra-registered lorry.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car badly damaged.
Six students died on the spot, while two others were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, police said.
Lorry Was Allegedly Parked Illegally, Says FIR
According to the FIR, the lorry had allegedly been parked illegally on the right side of the highway.
The accident took place near a barricaded section of NH-66 where traffic had been diverted due to ongoing construction work.
Police said the car was travelling at high speed, and the driver apparently failed to notice the diversion barricade before crashing into the rear of the parked lorry.
All Victims Were Engineering Students From Dindigul
All eight victims were engineering students from Dindigul in Tamil Nadu, according to police.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the students’ hometown and raised serious concerns about road safety on highways, particularly in areas where construction work and traffic diversions are underway.
Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the accident.
