मुंबई: IIT Bombay के प्रोफेसर Suryanarayana Doolla को छात्र Sahil Wakode की मौत के मामले के बीच छुट्टी पर भेज दिया गया है। NDTV की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, Doolla के खिलाफ कथित तौर पर आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने और जातिगत भेदभाव से संबंधित धाराओं में मामला दर्ज किया गया है। मामले की जांच जारी है।
प्रोफेसर Doolla बुधवार को पुलिस के सामने भी पेश होंगे। इससे पहले सोमवार को उन्हें छात्रों के विरोध-प्रदर्शन के बाद IIT Bombay के Dean of Administrative Affairs पद से हटा दिया गया था।
IIT Bombay के छात्र Sahil Wakode की कैसे हुई मौत?
22 वर्षीय Sahil Wakode, IIT Bombay के Department of Energy Science and Engineering में BTech के दूसरे वर्ष के छात्र थे। 18 सितंबर की शाम उन्हें हॉस्टल के कमरे में फंदे से लटका हुआ पाया गया।
यह घटना उस समय सामने आई जब संस्थान की ओर से पहले दावा किया गया था कि परीक्षा के दौरान Sahil को कथित तौर पर मोबाइल फोन के जरिए ChatGPT का इस्तेमाल करते हुए पकड़ा गया था। हालांकि, बाद में IIT Bombay ने इस संबंध में दिए गए अपने शुरुआती बयान पर खेद जताया और कहा कि घटना से जुड़ी परिस्थितियां जांच का विषय हैं।
Professor Suryanarayana Doolla पर क्या आरोप हैं?

Sahil की मां ने यह भी कहा कि 13 सितंबर को जब वे हॉस्टल में उससे मिलने गई थीं, तब उसने कथित तौर पर खुद को प्रताड़ित किए जाने और दुर्व्यवहार का सामना करने की बात कही थी।
इन आरोपों की स्वतंत्र पुष्टि अभी नहीं हुई है और मामले की जांच संबंधित अधिकारियों द्वारा की जा रही है।
IIT Bombay SC/ST Cell में शिकायत को लेकर क्या कहा गया?
IIT Bombay Faculty Forum के अध्यक्ष Rajkumar Pant ने कहा कि Sahil ने हाल के समय में संस्थान के SC/ST Cell के समक्ष कोई शिकायत नहीं की थी।
यह बयान सामने आए जातिगत भेदभाव के आरोपों के संदर्भ में महत्वपूर्ण है। हालांकि, किसी आधिकारिक शिकायत का रिकॉर्ड न होना अपने आप में लगाए गए आरोपों की सत्यता या असत्यता तय नहीं करता। मामले की जांच में सामने आने वाले तथ्यों से स्थिति स्पष्ट होगी।
Sahil Wakode की मां ने ChatGPT से नकल के दावे पर उठाए सवाल
Sahil की मां ने IIT Bombay के शुरुआती दावे पर भी सवाल उठाए, जिसमें कहा गया था कि उनका बेटा परीक्षा के दौरान ChatGPT का इस्तेमाल करते हुए पकड़ा गया था।
उन्होंने कहा कि यदि किसी छात्र पर परीक्षा में नकल करने का आरोप लगाया जाता है, तो उसके समर्थन में संबंधित साक्ष्य भी उपलब्ध कराए जाने चाहिए।
इसके बाद IIT Bombay ने अपने पहले बयान को लेकर स्पष्टीकरण जारी किया।

सोमवार को IIT Bombay ने छात्र की मौत के संबंध में पहले जारी किए गए बयान पर माफी मांगी। संस्थान ने कहा कि उसके शुरुआती बयान में शामिल जानकारी को लेकर वह खेद व्यक्त करता है।
संस्थान ने अपने नए बयान में कहा कि Sahil की दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण मौत से जुड़ी परिस्थितियां और घटनाक्रम अभी संबंधित अधिकारियों की जांच के अधीन हैं।
इस घटनाक्रम के बीच प्रोफेसर Suryanarayana Doolla को छुट्टी पर भेजे जाने और पुलिस जांच में उनकी पेशी को मामले में महत्वपूर्ण घटनाक्रम माना जा रहा है। हालांकि, किसी भी आरोप की अंतिम पुष्टि जांच पूरी होने के बाद ही हो सकेगी।
IIT Bombay Professor Suryanarayana Doolla Sent on Leave in Sahil Wakode Death Case
Mumbai: IIT Bombay professor Suryanarayana Doolla has been sent on leave amid the investigation into the death of student Sahil Wakode, according to sources cited by NDTV. A case has been registered against Doolla over allegations including abetment of suicide and caste discrimination.
Doolla is also expected to appear before the police on Wednesday. Earlier, on Monday, he was removed as the Dean of Administrative Affairs following protests by students over Sahil Wakode’s death.
Who was Sahil Wakode?
Sahil Wakode, 22, was a second-year BTech student in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay.
He was found hanging in his hostel room on the evening of September 18. The incident came after IIT Bombay had initially said that Sahil was allegedly caught using a mobile phone to access ChatGPT during an examination.
The institute later apologised for its earlier statements concerning the circumstances surrounding Sahil’s death and said that the details remained subject to investigation by the appropriate authorities.
Allegations Against IIT Bombay Professor Suryanarayana Doolla
Sahil’s family has made allegations of caste-based discrimination and harassment against Professor Suryanarayana Doolla.
According to Sahil’s mother, her son had allegedly told the family that Doolla would say, “I am from an upper caste and you are from a lower caste.” She claimed that the alleged behaviour had continued for around three months.
She also said that when the family met Sahil in his hostel room on September 13, he allegedly told them that he was being tortured and subjected to abuse.
The allegations have not been independently established, and the matter is currently under investigation.
What Did IIT Bombay Say About the SC/ST Complaint?
IIT Bombay Faculty Forum president Rajkumar Pant said that Sahil had not approached the institute’s SC/ST Cell with any complaint in the recent past.
The statement has come amid allegations of caste discrimination. However, the absence of a recent complaint to the SC/ST Cell by itself does not establish whether the allegations were true or false. The investigation is expected to examine the circumstances and evidence related to the case.
Sahil Wakode’s Mother Questions ChatGPT Cheating Claim
Sahil’s mother also questioned IIT Bombay’s initial statement that her son had allegedly been caught using ChatGPT during an examination.
She said that anyone making allegations of cheating should provide evidence to support the claim.
IIT Bombay subsequently withdrew from its earlier position and apologised for statements concerning the circumstances surrounding Sahil’s death.
IIT Bombay Apologises Over Earlier Statement
On Monday, IIT Bombay issued a fresh statement expressing regret over its earlier communication about Sahil Wakode’s death.
The institute said:
“We apologise for the statements contained in our earlier communication concerning the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of Sahil. The details and circumstances leading up to the incident remain subject to investigation by the appropriate authorities.”
The latest development comes after Professor Suryanarayana Doolla was removed from his administrative position and subsequently sent on leave. The police investigation into the allegations and circumstances surrounding Sahil Wakode’s death is ongoing.
