मोदीनगर क्षेत्र के सारा गांव से गोविंदपुरी तक जाने वाले मार्ग के चौड़ीकरण की दिशा में प्रशासन ने बड़ा कदम उठाया है। सोमवार को नगर पालिका परिषद की टीम मौके पर पहुंची और सड़क किनारे बने मकानों का चिन्हांकन करते हुए लाल रंग के निशान लगाए। इस कार्रवाई के बाद पूरे क्षेत्र में हलचल तेज हो गई है।
ग्रामीणों के अनुसार, सारा-गोविंदपुरी रोड लंबे समय से संकरी बनी हुई है, जिसके कारण प्रतिदिन जाम की समस्या बनी रहती है। विशेष रूप से गन्ना सीजन के दौरान ट्रैक्टर-ट्रॉली और भारी वाहनों के आवागमन से लोगों को काफी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ता है। सड़क किनारे अवैध पार्किंग और अतिक्रमण के कारण यातायात और भी प्रभावित होता है।
ग्रामीणों ने कई बार की थी शिकायत
ग्रामीणों का कहना है कि पिछले दो महीनों में उन्होंने जिलाधिकारी से लेकर मुख्यमंत्री तक कई बार शिकायत भेजी। इसके अलावा मोदीनगर तहसील पर धरना-प्रदर्शन करते हुए चेतावनी दी गई थी कि यदि सड़क चौड़ीकरण जल्द शुरू नहीं हुआ तो अनिश्चितकालीन आंदोलन किया जाएगा।
ग्रामीणों ने आरोप लगाया कि कुछ लोगों ने अपने मकानों का निर्माण निर्धारित सीमा से आगे सड़क तक कर लिया है, जिससे मार्ग लगातार संकरा होता गया।
नाला निर्माण के बीच बढ़ी चिंता
इसी मार्ग पर नाले का निर्माण कार्य भी चल रहा है। ग्रामीणों का कहना था कि यदि पहले नाले का निर्माण पूरा हो गया तो भविष्य में सड़क चौड़ीकरण करना और कठिन हो जाएगा। इसी मांग को लेकर सोमवार को भी बड़ी संख्या में ग्रामीण तहसील पहुंचे और प्रशासन से तत्काल कार्रवाई की मांग की।
ढाई से तीन फीट तक होगा सड़क चौड़ीकरण
नगर पालिका परिषद के अधिकारी अंकित चौधरी ने बताया कि सड़क के दोनों ओर लगभग ढाई से तीन फीट तक चौड़ीकरण किया जाएगा। इसके लिए प्रभावित मकानों पर लाल निशान लगाए गए हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि जिन भवनों का चिन्हांकन किया गया है, उनके मालिकों को निर्धारित समय सीमा के भीतर स्वयं अतिक्रमण हटाने का अवसर दिया जाएगा।
समय सीमा के बाद होगी बुलडोजर कार्रवाई
नगर पालिका प्रशासन ने स्पष्ट किया है कि यदि तय समय के भीतर संबंधित लोग स्वयं निर्माण नहीं हटाते हैं तो प्रशासन बुलडोजर कार्रवाई करेगा। चिन्हित सीमा तक बने निर्माण हटाकर सड़क चौड़ीकरण का कार्य कराया जाएगा, जिससे वर्षों से चली आ रही जाम और आवागमन की समस्या का समाधान हो सके।
Sara-Govindpuri Road Widening Begins; Houses Marked with Red Signs, Bulldozer Action After Deadline

The long-pending Sara-Govindpuri Road Widening Project in Modinagar has finally moved into the execution phase. On Monday, officials from the Modinagar Nagar Palika Parishad visited the site and marked houses along the roadside with red paint, signaling the beginning of the road expansion process.
Residents have been demanding the widening of this road for several years, citing severe traffic congestion caused by its narrow width. During the sugarcane season, the movement of tractor-trolleys and heavy vehicles often results in long traffic jams. Illegal parking and roadside encroachments have further worsened the situation.
Villagers Had Submitted Multiple Complaints
Over the past two months, villagers reportedly submitted several complaints to the District Magistrate and the Chief Minister, demanding immediate road widening. Protest demonstrations were also held at the Modinagar Tehsil, with warnings of an indefinite agitation if the issue remained unresolved.
According to residents, several buildings were constructed beyond the approved boundary, gradually reducing the effective width of the road.
Drain Construction Raised Concerns
A drainage project is also underway along the same stretch. Villagers repeatedly requested the administration to prioritize road widening before completing the drain, arguing that widening the road later would become significantly more difficult.
On Monday, a large number of residents again gathered at the tehsil office, urging immediate administrative action.
Road to Be Widened by Around 2.5–3 Feet on Both Sides
Municipal official Ankit Chaudhary stated that the road will be widened by approximately 2.5 to 3 feet on both sides. Houses falling within the expansion zone have been marked with red paint.
Property owners have been given a specified deadline to remove the encroaching portions of their structures voluntarily.
Bulldozer Action After Deadline
The Nagar Palika has made it clear that if the encroachments are not removed within the given time, the administration will carry out demolition using bulldozers. The move is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve transportation for residents who have faced this issue for years.
