Ghaziabad Water Supply: 3 Reniwells to Benefit Around 2 Lakh People
Ghaziabad: Around two lakh people in Ghaziabad are expected to benefit from three new reniwells constructed along the Hindon River to improve drinking water supply. The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is working on taking over the facilities. The three reniwells have a reported combined water supply capacity of 21 million litres per day (MLD).
The project aims to improve water availability in the areas covered by the scheme and strengthen the city’s drinking water supply network.
Which Ghaziabad Wards Will Benefit From the Reniwell Project?
According to the report, the first phase of the project is planned to cover eight wards: 34, 90, 80, 83, 10, 60, 75 and 86. Each reniwell has a reported capacity of 7 MLD.
Once the required work is completed and the water distribution system becomes operational, residents in these areas are expected to benefit from improved drinking water availability.
Four Overhead Water Tanks Also Prepared
Four overhead water tanks have been prepared as part of the project. According to the report, water has started reaching two of these tanks. Testing of the reniwells has also reportedly been completed by the Jal Nigam.
However, testing and water reaching a tank do not necessarily mean that regular household supply has started throughout the project area. The remaining work and formal transfer of the facilities to the Municipal Corporation are important steps before regular operations.
What Work Remains Before Water Supply Begins?
Pipeline work at some locations is reportedly still pending. Once the remaining pipelines are completed and the system is formally handed over to the Municipal Corporation, regular water supply can be arranged for the covered areas.
Residents should follow official announcements from the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation for confirmation of the supply start date and details of the areas covered.
Relief Expected for Residents in Mohan Nagar Zone
The project is expected to benefit residents in the relevant areas of the Mohan Nagar zone. Improved water infrastructure could strengthen the delivery of drinking water to households. The actual benefit will depend on completion of the remaining work and the start of regular supply.
