इन टिप्पणियों का संबंध दो अलग-अलग मुद्दों से बताया गया। पहला मामला 26 अगस्त को नेपाल-तिब्बत क्षेत्र के पास आई अचानक बाढ़ से जुड़ा था, जिसमें नौ सिंगापुरी नागरिकों के लापता होने की जानकारी सामने आई।
दूसरा मुद्दा सिंगापुर एयरलाइंस के एयर इंडिया में निवेश से जुड़ा था। इस विषय पर ऑनलाइन चर्चा के दौरान भी कथित तौर पर भारतीयों के खिलाफ आपत्तिजनक और भेदभावपूर्ण टिप्पणियां की गईं।
के. शनमुगम बोले- टिप्पणियां शर्मनाक और अस्वीकार्य
सिंगापुर के वरिष्ठ मंत्री के. शनमुगम ने कहा कि सोशल मीडिया पर की गई कुछ टिप्पणियां बेहद शर्मनाक हैं और उन्हें किसी भी स्थिति में स्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता।
उन्होंने बताया कि पुलिस इन मामलों की जांच कर रही है और अधिकारियों ने ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों को गंभीरता से लिया है।
शनमुगम ने साफ कहा कि नस्लीय या विदेशी विरोधी सोच सिंगापुर जैसे बहु-सांस्कृतिक समाज के लिए नुकसानदायक हो सकती है।
पीएम लॉरेंस वोंग ने दी कड़ी चेतावनी
प्रधानमंत्री लॉरेंस वोंग ने भी इस मामले पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा कि सिंगापुर में बहस और अलग-अलग विचारों की पूरी आजादी हो सकती है, लेकिन किसी समुदाय के खिलाफ पूर्वाग्रह फैलाने के लिए वैध तर्कों का इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।
उन्होंने कहा कि लोग मजबूत और खुली बहस कर सकते हैं, लेकिन किसी समुदाय या विदेशी नागरिकों के खिलाफ दुश्मनी फैलाना स्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता।
वोंग ने अपने फेसबुक पोस्ट में कहा कि इन दोनों मुद्दों पर ऑनलाइन चर्चाओं के दौरान समाज का एक बदसूरत पक्ष सामने आया है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि इस तरह की टिप्पणियों को केवल सामान्य ऑनलाइन बातचीत मानकर नजरअंदाज नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।
‘ऐसी सोच को सामान्य बनने देना खतरनाक’
लॉरेंस वोंग ने चेतावनी दी कि अगर इस तरह के व्यवहार को रोका नहीं गया तो यह धीरे-धीरे सामान्य बन सकता है।
उन्होंने कहा कि इससे अलग-अलग समुदायों के बीच अविश्वास बढ़ सकता है और समाज में विभाजन पैदा हो सकता है।
प्रधानमंत्री के अनुसार, सिंगापुर की ताकत उसकी बहु-सांस्कृतिक पहचान और विभिन्न समुदायों के बीच आपसी विश्वास में है। इसलिए किसी भी समुदाय के खिलाफ नफरत या नस्लीय भेदभाव को बढ़ने देना देश के सामाजिक ढांचे के लिए खतरनाक हो सकता है।
