Jewar Airport Connectivity: 29-km Road Planned to Link Four Expressways
Jewar Airport Connectivity: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is preparing to extend a 130-metre-wide road from Greater Noida West into Yamuna City to improve connectivity to Noida International Airport at Jewar. The proposed 29-kilometre road is planned to connect four major expressways, improve access to more than 20 YEIDA sectors and reduce traffic pressure around Pari Chowk. The project will require approximately 812 acres of land in the YEIDA area.
Jewar Airport to Get Better Connectivity With Four Expressways
The proposed road will extend for around 29 kilometres through the YEIDA region, beginning near Alonda village and continuing beyond the airport towards the proposed Palwal-Khurja Expressway.
The planned road network is expected to connect with four major routes:
- Delhi-Meerut Expressway or National Highway 24 (NH-24)
- Jewar Link Expressway
- Yamuna Expressway
- Proposed Palwal-Khurja Expressway
These connections are intended to provide alternative routes for travellers heading to the airport. The actual benefits will depend on the completion of the road and its connecting infrastructure.
Direct Road Connectivity Planned Between Ghaziabad and Jewar Airport
A 130-metre-wide road section already exists between Sirsa in Greater Noida and Char Murti in Greater Noida West. The existing route reaches NH-24 near Pratap Vihar in Ghaziabad.
YEIDA plans to extend this road through Yamuna City, creating a more direct road connection between Ghaziabad and Noida International Airport. The proposed route could also reduce the need for travellers to pass through Pari Chowk before reaching the airport-linked road network.
Travellers arriving from Agra, Mathura and Aligarh are also expected to benefit from improved access to the expressway network.
More Than 20 YEIDA Sectors to Benefit
The proposed 130-metre-wide road is expected to connect more than 20 sectors in Yamuna City, including Sectors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8B, 8C, 8D, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 16A, 18 and 31B.
Improved road access could make travel between these sectors easier and strengthen connections with the airport and nearby expressways. The road is also expected to support accessibility in the developing residential, commercial and industrial areas of the YEIDA region.
29-km Road to Connect With the Proposed Jewar Link Expressway
YEIDA also plans to connect the road with the proposed 74.3-kilometre Jewar Link Expressway near Sector 21. The link expressway is intended to connect the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway.
According to the report, around 95 per cent of the land required for the link expressway had been purchased. Once the planned infrastructure is completed, the connections are expected to improve access to the Yamuna Expressway from both sides of the planned sectors.
812 Acres Required as NHAI Is Set to Build the Road
The proposed project will require approximately 812 acres of land within the YEIDA area. Under the planned arrangement, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct the road, while YEIDA will provide the budget.
According to the report, both sides have reached an oral understanding, with formal paperwork expected to begin soon.
Rajendra Bhati, general manager for projects at YEIDA, said NHAI had been selected to construct the 130-metre-wide road. He described it as one of the city’s most important roads after the Yamuna Expressway, highlighting its planned role in connecting the airport with several districts and cities.
Completing the formalities for the NHAI-led construction arrangement is the next stated step.
